Special Olympics T-shirt Quilt
I was contacted by the Mother of a very special Olympian. Not the ones competing in Beijing, but a young lady with just as much dedication and spirit. She wanted to have a special quilt created for her daughter using her favorite colors and her Special Olympics t-shirts. Kelly was not too eager to give up her favorite shirts at first, but Mom convinced her it would be okay. I selected bright pink, purple, sparkly lime green, and a fabric with dots of all the colors to surround her quilt. In actuality, the quilt was as much for Mom as for its recipient because Kelly’s health had begun to fail, and Mom wanted her to have it to enjoy but to also have as a special memory of her very special and much loved child.
